Western Regional Office Internships

interns 2023

The Massachusetts SBDC provides free, high quality, strictly confidential, one-on-one management and technical assistance and low-cost educational programs to potential and existing small business entrepreneurs throughout Western Massachusetts. We help small business owners with start-up problems, business plan development, financial plan development, marketing and sales strategies, cash flow preparation and analysis, organizational and personnel issues, and other management issues relating to running a small business.

The Massachusetts SBDC is part of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Western Regional Office is located at Tower Square in Springfield.

Benefits of an internship:
Interns receive valuable hands-on experience in dealing with "real life" small business issues. They have an opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to actual business situations. The MSBDC staff has a wealth of experience and knowledge and are happy to share their expertise with interns. Interns get involved in helping small business owners and learn about an assortment of industries, from construction to physical therapy.

Internships offer an opportunity for students who want to gain experience in business/financial planning and marketing strategy, or for those who want to learn about starting their own small business.

Duties: Interns work with seasoned professional business advisors and consultants in a wide range of business segments. Interns participate in business advisory sessions, do market research, prepare financial projections and receive practical business experience in the real world. Interns also help business owners prepare business plans and financial statements for loan packages to help MSBDC clients build and expand their businesses.

Skills desired: Basic computer skills are required, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Students should have the desire to learn and be willing to actively participate in business advisory sessions, as well as day-to-day activities.

Contact: For more information on internships or to apply, please contact Allen Kronick at 413-577-1763 or click here to send an email.
