  • COMMBUYS is the only official procurement record system for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Executive Departments. COMMBUYS offers free internet-based access to all public procurement information posted here in order to promote transparency, increase competition, and achieve best value for Massachusetts taxpayers.

  • Certify.SBA.gov is the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) working to modernize the application process for federal contracting programs. Experience a unified SBA contracting program certification process and complete SBA forms directly online.

  • U.S. Department of Defense's website explains everything you want to know about doing business with the military.

  • System for Award Management (SAM) is the official U.S. Government system that combined federal procurement systems and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance into one new system. The benefits include streamlined and integrated processes, elimination of data redundancies, and reduced costs while providing improved capability. There is no fee to register for this site.

  • Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) has the responsibility to certify businesses. SDO certification is a marketing tool used to enhance a firm’s ability to do business in public markets. Although certification does not guarantee that a business will be successful every time it bids, it may add a competitive edge to a bid. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts spends more than $4 billion each year doing business with firms. More than $240 million of this amount is targeted to SDO certified minority and women businesses. Becoming SDO-certified can help firms seeking contracts with the government. 

  • AirForceSmallBiz.org is the U.S. Air Force Office of Small Business Programs new web-based initiative that aims to improve connectivity between the small business community and the Air Force. Links include locating an Air Force small business specialist, calendar of events, and much more!

U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration maintains and strengthens the nation's economy by aiding, counseling, assisting and protecting the interests of small businesses and by helping families and businesses recover from national disasters.
 

IRSIRS Small Business and Self-Employed Tax Center contains a wealth of information for small businesses and self-employed entrepreneurs. The Tax Center makes navigating through the IRS website less burdensome. The Tax Center has links to useful tools the IRS offers, including the Virtual Small Business Tax Workshop, a downloadable tax calendar, common forms and their instructions and help on everything from how to get an Employer Identification Number (EIN) online to how to engage with the IRS in the event of an audit.

  • Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) is a not-for-profit educational organization providing comprehensive business assistance, networking opportunities and resources to women starting and/or growing their businesses.

  • Commonwealth Corporation is a quasi-public organization responsible for administering and delivering a wide range of public and privately-funded initiatives designed to meet the labor needs of businesses; improve current and emerging workers’ skills; foster career success through lifelong learning; and retain, sustain, improve and create job-generating businesses.

  • EDGAR—the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system—performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

  • Environmental Protection Agency's Small Business Gateway allows access to U.S. EPA information from one convenient site.

  • Federal Marketplace assists businesses in selling products and services to the federal government. Up to date Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the Internet's only Active Federal Contracts database.

  • Internal Revenue Service has business tax information, publications and forms.

  • Library of Congress has a wealth of information available and brings a universal collection of knowledge and creativity.

  • Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for protecting human health and the environment by ensuring clean air and water, the safe management and disposal of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.

  • Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards consists of the Division of Occupational Safety and the Division of Apprentice Training. The mission of this agency is is to promote and protect workers' safety and health, wages and working conditions, and to support employers and workers in the utilization of apprenticeship as a workforce development tool.

  • Massachusetts Division of Insurance monitors the solvency of its licensees in order to promote a healthy, responsive and willing marketplace for consumers who purchase insurance products.
