The Southeast Regional Office is a advising center of the Massachusetts Small Business Development Center (MSBDC) Network and it is part of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Utilizing the resources of the University of Massachusetts system makes the MSBDC an excellent source of reference for the region's business community.

The MSBDC's Southeast Regional Office was created in 1982 to pool resources of federal, state and local government, academic institutions, and the private sector to provide small businesses with management and educational programs. The office serves all of southeastern Massachusetts including Cape Cod and the Islands.

Our mission is accomplished through the MSBDC's staff which includes three business advisors -- Melinda Ailes [bio], Clifford Robbins [bio] and Tricia White [bio] -- all of whom have a broad range of business knowledge. In addition, each counselor specializes in certain areas of expertise such as: business and financial plan development, marketing and sales counseling, financial analysis and business retention. We also offer training seminars and assistance to companies seeking unconventional financing sources. Our office manager and client services coordinator is Tammi Jacobsen [bio] and our administrative assistant is Alison Moriarty [bio].

Additionally our office works closely with Procurement Technical Assistance Center and government sales advisor Daniel Lilly [bio] and the Massachusetts Export Center regional office located in New Bedford.

Our team based approach to counseling allows the business advisors to coordinate and combine their skills and abilities to fulfill the client's needs. Free and confidential counseling services are available to either preventure or existing businesses.

Services are delivered through a network of skilled professional staff supported by a federal, state, and higher education consortium as well as several partnerships.

 

The MSBDC was created in 1980 by United States Public Law 96-302 as amended by PL 98-395 and PL 101-909 to pool the resources of federal, state and local government; academic institutions; and the private sector to provide small businesses with high quality technical assistance and educational programs.

The MSBDC is a partnership of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Massachusetts Department of Business Development and a consortium of higher educational institutions led by the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and including Clark University, Salem State College, the University of Massachusetts Boston and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
